Privacy Policy

The short version
Ikoi is local-first and private by default. Your tasks, captures, and routines live on your device and work fully offline. You can optionally create an account to sync across devices and turn on AI features, and only then does any of your data reach our servers. We never sell your data, show you ads, or look at your content.
How Ikoi stores your data
Everything you create (tasks, checklist items, captures, routines, tags, and settings) is stored locally on your device and works without an account. If you sign in, that same data is synced to our backend so you can use it on your other devices. Nothing is shared with advertisers or analytics providers.
Accounts and sign-in
An account is optional. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with your email address. For email sign-in we send a 6-digit one-time code rather than asking you to store a password. We keep your account identifier, your email if you provide one, and the tokens needed to keep you signed in. Sign in with Apple may relay a private, Apple-generated email address instead of your real one.
What we sync
When you are signed in, your tasks, checklist items, captures, tags, routines, and app settings sync to our backend (a Hono API running on Cloudflare Workers, with the database hosted on PlanetScale). This data is used only to provide sync between your devices. It is never analyzed for advertising or sold.
AI features
AI is off by default. When you turn it on in Settings, the specific text you choose to process (such as a capture or a task) is sent to our server and then to our AI provider, OpenRouter, which routes it to Google's Gemini models to generate a draft suggestion. Your content is not used to train AI models. We store counts of your AI usage (not the content) to enforce daily limits. You can turn AI off again at any time.
Voice capture
If you use voice capture, your speech is transcribed using your device's built-in speech recognition. On Apple devices, audio may be processed by Apple's speech services under Apple's own privacy policy. Ikoi does not store raw audio recordings.
Calendar
Calendar access is optional. If you grant it, scheduled tasks that you choose are added to your device's calendar. Ikoi does not read or upload your existing calendar events.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage entitlements, meaning whether your account is on the free or premium plan. RevenueCat receives a purchase identifier linked to your account. We never receive or store your payment card details.
Analytics
Our website uses Google Analytics to understand general traffic. The Ikoi app itself ships without any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, no tracking pixels, and no advertising identifiers.
Third-party services
Ikoi relies on a small set of providers to function: Apple and Google for sign-in and purchases, Cloudflare and PlanetScale for our backend and database, OpenRouter and Google for optional AI, RevenueCat for subscription management, and Resend for sending account emails. Each only receives the data needed to do its job.
Data retention and deletion
Deleting the app removes your local data from that device. If you have an account, you can delete it to remove your synced data from our servers, and you can delete individual items inside the app at any time. To request account deletion or ask a question, email privacy@ikoi.app.
Children
Ikoi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. You can use the core app without ever creating an account.
International users
Our servers and service providers may be located in countries other than your own. By using Ikoi with an account, you understand that your synced data may be processed in those locations.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new date at the top. Continued use of Ikoi after a change means you accept the updated policy.
